"It's gone as well as anybody expected to be fair, if not more," Jones told Sky Sports News.
"I know every manager says it, but it's a credit to the players and everyone associated - my staff and everybody behind the scenes at the club.
"This year is an important year for us and everybody is rowing the same way, which is absolutely fantastic."
With the summer transfer window set to close on today, Jones stated his side will not be adding any more new faces.
"We're under the financial restraints because of the new stadium that's being built, so we have to cut our cloth accordingly," he added.
"If we continue to do what we're doing, then there might be some money in the January window, but we have to be very, very rigid in what we do.
"Although I've moved out a lot of players and brought 12 players in, I have to stick to the budget.
"We'll just get on with it and hopefully, we'll keep doing well."
Also shortlisted for the Championship award were Peter Taylor, Nigel Worthington and Mick McCarthy.
The League 1 Award went to Colin Calderwood with Dennis Wise picking the award for League 2.
