"Lots of people are saying we won't sustain it but we've got to keep going," said Jones.
"To come to a place like Palace and get a result, and to play well and dictate the game for large parts, shows the character in my dressing room.
"But there is a long, long way to go. This division is the longest and the toughest to get out of anywhere. It's a marathon.
"That's not mind games - I can't even finish the crossword. All I know is how hard we work, and we have to to beat teams like Crystal Palace. And make no mistake, that was a tough, tough battle.
"My players all expect to play 40 games in the season," he added. "We've just got to keep going. There's no shouting, bawling or gloating in our dressing room. We've created an environment where the players come to work. They know they've got to work their socks off."

"We're obviously delighted for Simon now he's got the ground and it's disappointing we couldn't make it two out of two with a win for him," said Taylor.
"But to be honest if we were playing in a park the pressure on me would be the same.
"That performance was by no means dreadful but we gave the goals away.
"The defending was very poor for the first goal but I thought we recovered well. But again their second goal was as a result of us playing in a risky area. They've nicked it and gone on to score.
"But Cardiff are a strong, well-balanced team which is no surprise with Dave Jones in charge. And Chopra looks an excellent player, he played tremendously well.
"If they don't get hit by injuries then they'll be close."
