Local bookmakers have stopped taking bets on Jones who yesterday was 2-1 on to get the job.
It's been revealed today that as well as interviewing Dave Jones last week Cardiff City also spoke to Phil Parkinson from Colchester and Paul Hart.
Of the other names linked Yeovil's Gary Johnson was never a contender after signing a new deal at Huish Park and it looks like Dennis Wise is going to sign a playing contract at Q.P.R for a season.
This leaves the way open for Dave Jones and it would be a shock at 1pm if he isn't named the new boss.
