A statement from Peter Ridsdale on the official website www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk has confirmed that Jones will be allowed to continue despite a slump on the field that has seen the club free fall into a relegation battle.
The statement to the press reads
There has been much speculation in the press with regard to the future of our football manager Dave Jones. At a Board meeting held this morning the Board unanimously agreed to back Dave in his quest to improve on the recent run of results. All football managers are ultimately judged by results and results over the last twelve months have not been acceptable. Dave is as aware of this as anyone.
We sincerely hope that this announcement will end the current speculation and that all true Cardiff City Football supporters will continue to give Dave and his players their full support.
Cardiff City are currently facing a number of challenges of which the current team performance is just one. In soundings with a vast majority of our shareholders they have given the current Board their unequivocal support.
One win at home this season, just 11 wins in the last 49 games is not acceptable and despite the statement saying the results are unaccepable they have still decided to keep Jones as the manager.
There must be reasons other than footballing reasons for this decision. Managers with better records have lost their jobs already this season.
