"We're in a great position in the league, said Jones. "And, if you had asked fans if they would be happy with sixth place on goal difference at Christmas, I bet they would have been.
"A lot has gone on in the last week, but the one thing I never wanted to do was use it as an excuse. I don't think it has had any bearing whatsoever on us not winning games.
"The teams at the top have to keep churning out results now, and that's not easy.
"Maybe the pressure is on them now and off us a little bit, and if we can get a few new faces it gives us a better chance of breaking out again."
