Dave Jones looks ahead to City v Reading

Last updated : 10 April 2010 By Michael Morris

Jones recognises the job done by Former City player Brian McDermott but a result for the Bluebirds is all that matters today. Reading are flying and can still gatecrash the play offs if they continue to win their matches.

"From the outside he (McDermott) has done a fantastic job and he'll want to continue his good run," said Jones.

"But I want to take points off him and my only concern is this club.

"While they have games in hand they have an opportunity of making the play-offs.

"But having games in hand is hard because you have to win them.

"And this division is difficult because of the amount of games in such a short space of time.

"Sometimes you put a run together and propel yourself into a decent position.

"But, likewise, if you lose a few you are soon out of the placings.

"Reading have always been a strong side, but teams have a period of time where nothing seems to go right for you.

"That is what probably happened to them, but they have turned that around lately.

"Brian has been there a long time and knows his players.

"They know what to do because they've done it before. But he knows nobody can afford to slip up, it's just as tight down the bottom as the top."

When asked about the pressure that comes with the job, Jones said it didn't bother him.

"I love the job and pressure comes with that," he said.

"When you play it is performance-related, when you manage it is results-related, so everybody will apply pressure.

"This football club has been knocking on the door for a few years - there is pressure and we have to embrace it."
