“My situation at Cardiff is not optimal at all at the moment,” Mats Moller Daehli said at the start of this week.
“A month without playing is OK, but it can’t continue like this to be honest. We will have to see about a move in January, but I need to play now.
“I had a chat with Russell Slade, but what was said will have to remain just between the two of us.”
Daehli has not featured in City's matchday squad for the last three games and suggestions a hip injury is keeping out of the squad look to be wide of the mark after he represented his country.
Talsk are expected next week between the player, his representatives and the club.
Cardiff manager Russell Slade is keeping his options open and said: “At this moment in time I am not looking to move him on and it would take a big fee for him leave.
“Mats is not as happy as he could be because he wants to play. It could be possible Mats may be sold or loaned out, but he could also be here for another two years.”
Daehli can be an exciting player but it's uncertain if his slight build and tricky style will prosper in the Championship.
