They hope the launch today of the new blue kit and the marking up of Cardiff City Stadium with the new Bluebirds logo (picture by Jon Candy) will help boost sales ahead of the kick off against Fulham on August 8th.
City sold approximately 18,500 tickets on the way to promotion in 2013, over 22,000 in the Premier League and around 16,000 last season. That figure was swollen by many fans buying before we were relegated.
The stadium last season saw crowds announced at 20,000 and more when in reality the stadium was only half full. Crowds are annouced on tickets sold and that included all seaon ticket holders if they turned up or not.
With the new stand built the ground now holds over 33,000 people but the upper tier will be shut this season and City will struggle to sell enough tickets to fill half of the stadium.
It will take a promotion challenge to start attracting more people back to watch the club. Many have gone never to return after the rebrand fiasco while many more came for the glory of the Premier League.
