Dave Jones

'Everybody talks about Sunderland and their form, but we're doing all right,' Jones told the Echo. 'This is a big match for both teams.

'Our preparation has been disrupted by international calls, but that's been the same for Sunderland.

'Tomorrow's match is big, but so are the other games coming up fast.

'Every team involved in the promotion chase has difficult matches.

'There is still a long way to go and a lot can happen.

'We will train today and then we will assess where we are in terms of fitness.

'Right now, though, only Darren Purse and Glenn Loovens are ruled out by injury.

'Apart from those two we have an open mind and we'll have a head count after training.'

"I'm delighted with the way things are," he told SAFC.com. "Looking at the players in training, their attitude and spirit is great, I enjoy watching them train.

"We've gone on a good run and they know they have got to keep it up. It's going to be tough but I have faith in them. We know what's at stake but you got to enjoy times like this.

"We have seven games left and they are all bigger than cup finals. We've been playing well and if we continue to do so we've a hell of a chance, it's as simple as that.

"A manager can only do so much, ultimately it's down to the players and they've got to enjoy the challenge, there's no sign that they will slacken off."

"It doesn't surprise me that Cardiff have faded a little bit. Having said that, they are still in a good position and I'm sure their manager will think they are in with a good chance of the play-offs.

"The way they started the season, I think it was going to be impossible to keep that up. They started brilliantly.

"The defeat at home to Cardiff hurt very much, especially the goals we gave away. We've tightened up now."
