A stirring rendition of Men of Harlech could be hear throughout Canton as the late comers dodged the downpours to get to the ground.
The game was barely 15 seconds old when Robert Earnshaw broke free and was felled by Simon Rea. It's thought to be the second fastest sending off ever. Kevin Pressman was dismissed for Sheff Weds on 13 seconds. Rea at 15 seconds was not far behind.
There is one other fastest sending off, Walter Boyd was sent off after coming on as a sub for Swansea. He elbowed Darlington's Martin Gray before the referee re-started the game so technically was sent off after 0 seconds of action.
Graham Kavanagh hit the woodwork with the resultant free kick.
If Peterborough had planned to defend deep and hope to strike on the break then tactics changed to defend even deeper.

The first half was no spectacle, City fans knew the game was won but still a little bell jingled in the back of the mind that we are no good at defending 1 - 0 leads. No need to worry here, Posh mustered probably two shots in the second half, both off target.
The game was made safe when Earnie being Earnie caused havoc in the penalty area and after the little fella looked to have ridden the challenges on him he was sent to the ground and a penalty was awarded. Earnie himself cooly slotted home, the keeper guessed right this week but was still beaten comfortably.
Three minutes later a ball from the left bounced up invitingly for City's newest goal machine Rhys Weston to score with a volley that bounced up into the net.
The game was won, City passed it like a practice match.
Layton Maxwell won the sponsors Man of the Match. Probably becuase he tried to shoot a few times, if there is critisism today is that City try to pass it into the net, Maxwell could not hit the the donkeys proverbial with a banjo today but he was trying. Apart from Kav's free kick and a couple of Weston overhit cross come shots there was no direct cracks at goal.
I'm not complaining though. Top of the table, 8 goals and 9 points from 3 games. 3 clean sheets too.
Also the ghost of Peterborough games past has been laid to rest. A first win at home against 'boro since the first meeting in 1975. The 0 - 2 after the Leeds game last season has been long forgotten.
