"Not everyone can get a club and I'm in that boat," he said
"But my record speaks for itself. If I get offers, I get offers.
"I'm between jobs, so to speak. I thought I would have a few options, but at the minute I've not. Nothing has happened as yet.
"Obviously I don't want to blow my own trumpet, as, in this day and age, lots of players are in my situation and not everyone can get a club.
"But I'm confident in what I can do. I am 32 and not past it by any means. I sense as though I'm capable of still doing a job.
The Western Mail are claiming that Cardiff have offered a package to Fowler and they are waiting for a reply.Fowler's record as a striker is superb and at just 32 could still offer something to a Championship team. A major stumbling block could be wages. He was reported to be on £50,000 a week last season but it's not the money that motivates him at the moment as he is very successful property owner. Maybe Ridsdale could come up with a deal to suit all parties?
The challenge for Fowler will be to play regular football.
Peter Ridsdale has previously signed Fowler. He took him to Leeds Utd in 2001 for £11m. After that he went to Man City for £6m before returning to Liverpool.
It was his first spell at Anfield for 9 years though that made him a Kop hero. 171 goals in 289 starts for the Reds.
Peter Ridsdale has confirmed that City are trying to secure three players all of which have international experience. One of them is the mysterious goalkeeper, the second is thought to be Robbie Fowler with AN Other.
"We have been in contact with three players, each with international experience, and have offered them what we think are attractive packages," said Ridsdale.
"We're waiting for the three players to make a decision and are hopeful they will decide to come to Cardiff City.
"One of the players is a goalkeeper and it doesn't take an expert to work out that one of the others is a striker.
"These are key positions we are keen to fill ahead of the new season.
"As for when we will know the outcome, well it could be today or it might not be until August.
"When you are trying to do deals like these, things can take time.
"I think the calibre of the players the club is approaching shows how much we've progressed in a short space of time.
"They way we are working is simple. Dave Jones identifies the players he wants to bring in and we then do our best to bring those players in.
"We're confident when we start the new season we will have a better squad of players than we did for the previous campaign. That has always been our aim."
