City in contact with Hibs for Derek Riordan

HIBS manager Tony Mowbray has admitted that Cardiff City have made further contact over striker Derek Riordan.

Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam contacted his Easter Road counterpart Rod Petrie for the second time concerning Riordan last week having previously inquired about the player a month ago.

The Championship club's manager, Dave Jones, is a massive fan of Riordan and is believed to have made a bid in the region of £1million in an attempt to lure him south. Hibs have not yet reached the stage of agreeing to any proposed fee for Riordan, but Mowbray concedes that the 22-year-old's suitors are making their moves as he prepares for his full Scotland debut in Austria on Wednesday.

"I haven't had any conversations with anybody but there was contact with the chairman last week," said Mowbray. "Nothing is done or agreed and there is nothing happening for the moment because Derek is away with Scotland in Austria. It's business as usual at present as far as I'm concerned.
