Cardiff City have drawn a mouth watering Carling Cup 4th round cup tie with a visit to Anfield.
As well as it being one of the most famous clubs in the world there are some other quirks thrown up by this fixture.
Firstly it's a return home for Robbie Fowler. The Liverpol legend will again be able to bid a farewell to Anfield, hopefully this time he'll be scoring for Cardiff City.
Secondly we have a decent record against Liverpool. Granted we may not have played them for 48 years but in the 28 meetings between the teams Cardiff have won 18 of them.
At Anfield City have won 8 from 14 matches, the other 6 going Liverpool's way. The teams have never drawn in Liverpool.
OK times change and I'm making the stats look good for City. We have moved on several generations and several light years in footballing achievement but it's nice to think that of the last 9 matches between the clubs Cardiff have won 8 of them.
The last game the sides played was on December 19th 1959. Liverpool had just appointed a new manager. His first game in charge ended
Liverpool 0 - 4 Cardiff City
his name. Bill Shankly.
