With Aron Gunnarsson likely to be given the international break to recover from his injury Malky Mackay could turn to Filip Kiss for the trip to Portsmouth on Saturday.
Joe Mason has started the last two League games since Gunnarsson's injury with Peter Whittingham dropping deeper in midfield. But with Kiss now available Malky may opt to have him sitting with Peter Whittingham playing a more naturally creative role.
At the time of writing there are no other reported injuries. Just two players, Craig Conway and Don Cowie, started the Carling Cup victory in midweek, who also played last weekend at Burnley. Both were influential during the win over Huddersfield and both will be key players at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth are likely to play new £1.5m signing Erik Huseklepp against Cardiff. The striker could play alongside Dave Kitson. Steve Cotteril also has Kanu and Benjani in his squad.
Since the FA Cup final at Wembley the teams have met twice with Cardiff doing the double last season.
