"Gareth Whalley is a player we are interested in."
The left sided 28 year old was one of 16 players sacked by Bradford as the club went into administration at the end of last season. It's been reported that City have had talks with the player but personal terms have not been agreed.
Whalley, a left sided midfielder started his career at Crewe and played over 200 games before moving to Bradford on 1998. He played over 100 games for the Bantams inc 35 in the Premiership during Bradford's 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 season's in the top flight.
He ended last season back at Crewe on loan before his Bradford contract was terminated on May 23rd this year.
It is also reported that City are interested in Barnsley's 22 year old left back Chris Barker. Barnsley could ask for a fee for Barker of up to £1m, a figure City are unlikely to pay. Wales internatioanl Darren Barnard, released this summer by Barnsley is also linked to City.
Whalley is thought to be the top target as Lennie continue's to look for two left sided players and a back up goalkeeper for Neil Alexander.
