Conway's name has been linked recently but the BBC on Tuesday took it up a level using quotes from the player.
The former Dundee United winger says he has agreed terms with Cardiff City and will have a medical in the next few days with the Championship side.
"I was really impressed by Malky Mackay when I met him when he was manager at Watford," Conway, 26, told BBC Scotland.
Now it's being suggested that Conway has selected City over Rangers. When words like this appear - with Cardiff making no comment whatsoever - you do wonder if he might be giving Rangers one last chance to come in for him. I maybe misjudging the situation, time will tell.
Conway, a winger, has two Scottish caps and scored twice as his side, Dundee Utd, beat Ross County to win the Scottish FA Cup final in 2010.
He was valued at £1m then by Utd with Middlesbrough one of a number of teams taking an interest.
