"We had a little clause in the deal if he played a certain amount of games and they went up," Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence said.
"Both of those have occurred, which is good for us and I'm pleased for Kav."
The amount is thought to be around £150,000.
A further £100,000 could be coming City's way if Kav is a regular for them next season and they avoid relegation.
