MATCH PREVIEW

As if matches between these South Wales rivals were not always spicy enough, they meet on Saturday with both clubs battling for promotion to the top flight.

In-form Cardiff have cemented their position in the top six after recovering from the kind of wobble Paulo Sousa's Swansea side are now enduring.

The Bluebirds have won four of their last five matches and are eight points clear of seventh-placed Blackpool, while Swansea have won only one of their last seven.

But despite their miserable March, which included a 5-1 defeat at Blackpool in their last away game, the Swans remain on course for the play-offs - where these two teams could well meet again.

Head-to-head

• The 1-0 win at the Vetch Field in March 1997 is Cardiff's only triumph over Swansea in 13 league and cup meetings.
