A healthy 381 spectators saw Fan Zhiyi make his first appearance in a City shirt. He played at centre back along with youngster Gethin Jones. While he had a fairly quiet first half he had a couple of shots at goal in the second half which showed he can kick a ball. Defensively City were sound and keeper Margetson only had one save of not to make, which he did excellently, beating away an Oxford attacker who through on goal.
Leo's goal was a lovely header from a Ryan Green Cross.
Gavin Gordon was back for City and showed good pace early on and went close with a couple of efforts in the first half.
Man of the match for me was Mark Bonner who worked hard all game. In fairness no one had a bad game, the rain lashed down and City won and kept a clean sheet.
The fifth win in 10 games from the reserve side has lifted the Bluebirds into 5th place in the Avon Combination table on 18 points, only three points from second placed Portsmouth.
