Cardiff City are ready to make contract offers to Wales heroes Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, 90min can confirm.
Bale helped his country secure a spot in the 2022 World Cup on Sunday, with his free-kick ending up in the back of the Ukraine net courtesy of a wicked deflection from Andriy Yarmolenko, after which he joked that his retirement plans had been put on hold.
The 32-year-old's focus has now switched to finding a new club for the 2022/23 season and sources have confirmed to 90min that Cardiff are ready to make an audacious approach for Bale.
Bale has never played club football in Wales but was born in Cardiff and the Bluebirds hope to use his affinity towards his homeland to lure him in on a short-term deal which they hope could extend beyond the upcoming campaign if Cardiff can return to the Premier League.
While the wages on offer in the Championship are nowhere near the £600,000 per week that Bale took home at Real, he is understood to be prepared to take a significant pay cut to join his next club.
Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week they discuss whether Sadio Mane will leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich, Manchester United's pursuit of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, Newcastle's plans for Moussa Diaby and Sven Botman & Jorginho's future at Chelsea.
As well as Bale, Cardiff are prepared to throw their hat in the ring for Ramsey, another Welsh star who could be on the move this summer.
A move for Ramsey, who came through the Cardiff academy, is complicated by the fact that he still has 12 months remaining on his contract with Juventus, but the Serie A side are expected to do what they can to part ways with Ramsey this summer and could make him available on a free transfer.
