Striker Jay Bothroyd says Cardiff City's last-minute win over Coventry was needed after ending a run of five straight league defeats on the road.Peter Whittingham scored from the spot to claim a 2-1 win after Martin Cranie was harshly penalised for handball.
The result also keeps Cardiff in the play-off places.
"He's put his hands up in the box so it can always be given but there was one before that, that was a definite penalty...and wasn't given," he said.
"That's football and I'm glad we got the rub of the green.
"It was a great win, we needed it."
Sixth-place Cardiff are now five points behind rivals Swansea in fifth with a game in hand.
The win also ensured the Bluebirds created some breathing space between themselves and the chasing pack.
A defeat would have seen them drop out of the play-offs with Coventry replacing them.
"We know we haven't been playing that well of late, but we played pretty well against Leicester but didn't get the right result," said Bothroyd.
"So it was important that we got the right result today even if we didn't play that well.
"But I think we did play well. I think we controlled parts of the game in the first half, we had a lot of chances."
