Cardiff City Supporters Trust

A group of 25 - 30 City fans met up on Sunday afternoon with shared concerns over the goings on at the club.

Dave Sugarman explains what happened.

"An informal fans' meeting took place at the Muni Club on City Road. I didn't count the number of supporters present, but I'd say there were about 25 or 30 of us in attendance.

"There was no agenda as such, and the purpose of the meeting was very straightforward: to discuss the current situation at our club, and to see if there is anything at all that any of those present can do about it. As the group included a number of fans who have contact with some of the current board members, the club's former owner and various local media representatives, it was hoped that some influence could be brought to bear on the parties involved in the ongoing legal dispute to get things sorted out, although it was accepted that that influence is likely to be limited.

"A number of frank views were exchanged on a variety of subjects during a lively meeting that lasted about two and half hours. The general feeling was the opinions of the fans are not being represented in the local media with regard to the club's current on-field and off-field situations, so efforts will shortly be made to address that situation.

"The group was also of the opinion that the setting up of a supporters' trust is a realistic long-term aim, although few of those present at today's meeting are likely to be involved in it. Further discussions on this particular issue will be held shortly, and requests for help from those who are likely to be able to make the idea a reality will appear on this website and in the press in due course."

Since then Paul Corkery has taklen the Supporters Trust idea a stage further and is organising a more open meeting for Sunday November 25th. Dozens of people from the messageboard have offered their time and efforts into making this a reality.

"No one needs to be excluded," he told me. "Infact I think we need a lot of input and help to get this started. However I need to know who is definately going to attend...I can make a list then and tell the venue what numbers to expect...If you think you can attend please e mail me

"Please state if you would like to be part of a starter committee to help get it up and running.

"This meeting is not to argue about Peter Risdale, the club, Dave Jones etc...the only agenda is to start up a Cardiff city supporters trust...I will post another question and answer thread from Supporters Direct shortly to give fans some idea of what a supporters trust actual means.

"Meeting planned for Municiple club in Cardiff...City road opposite Wetherspoons at noon for a 12.30 am start on Sunday November 25 day after Ipswich game."
