Cardiff City FC have called for fans to focus on the football as the first pre season friendly is set to take place this weekend at Forest Green.
After weeks of fan v fan arguements over kit colour and rebranding the actual football is about to start.
Part of the statement here on the official website reads:
With our Championship campaign drawing ever closer, and in light of the changes at Cardiff City Football Club this summer, this is a time in which we would urge all fans to unite in supporting their local team. Our collective focus should remain on efforts to see Cardiff City succeed on the field of play, a task greatly aided by our long term valued and dedicated supporters every match-day.
The club firmly believes it is now time to draw a line under the recent publicised changes and hope that all fans will put aside their grievances and allow the football on the field to be the main talking point, thereby avoiding a detrimental effect on our collective aims and goals.
Over recent years we have strived to create an exciting match atmosphere for all supporters to enjoy, a process that has seen attendances, season ticket numbers and increasing families attend home games. It is our duty to all supporters to ensure that this continues, maintaining Cardiff City Stadium's status as a vibrant and safe sporting environment, hosting top class football matches.
Looking forward we remain committed to an open dialogue with Cardiff City fans next season. Club staff will be working through the recent fan survey in coming weeks and will start the feedback and focus groups as we look to further enhance the match-day experience in line with supporter views.
All at Cardiff City Football Club are thankful for the fantastic support for our club throughout our community and look forward with interest to the start of the forthcoming season.
