Burton pleased with Blackburn draw

"It's a good game, it's a good tie for everybody and obviously the Mark Hughes connection will add something to it," said Terry Burton on the news that City will entertain Blackburn in round 3 of the FA Cup.

"What you always hope for is a home draw and the main thing is we've got that, so we've got to be pleased."

Cardiff have become quite specialist at getting home draws in the FA Cup 3rd round. In the last 8 draws (City have made the third round every year since 1997), we have had 7 home draws. Only in the 1999 / 2000 season did we have to travel and that was to Bolton.

2004/5 Blackburn (h)
2003/4 Sheff U (h)
2002/3 Coventry (h)
2001/2 Leeds (h)
2000/1 Crewe (h)
1999/0 Bolton (a)
1998/9 Yeovil (h)
1997/8 Reading (h)

"Blackburn haven't had the greatest of starts and expectations will be high in both camps, that's the luck of the draw," Burton continued.

"I'm sure Blackburn would have preferred a home draw, I'm sure they will be looking at it and thinking it's a tricky one.

"They'll be favourites, they've got all the Premiership players but it's a potential banana skin for them."

The game is expected to be played on Saturday 8th January 2005.
