"It's never been my slant to say what we have and what we haven't done, but there has been a bid for the striker at Cardiff," said Bruce
"Unfortunately, it's been knocked back.
"I'm sure the representatives of both clubs will get together and see if there is a deal to be done."
Bruce's comments finally confirm that Birmingham are chasing last season's City top scorer. There has been several media links to a possible move with the Wales on Sunday claiming he would be a Birmingham player by the end of last Sunday (May 21st).
That never happened but obviously there is a strong connection.
Jerome is also linked with WBA and a possible swap move for Jason Koumas. That has been confirmed by Brian Robson who thinks he should at least get Jerome for Koumas and not give Jason away as well as money
"Cardiff want money plus Koumas, but I think it should be the other way round," said Robson on the weekend.
"Jason is probably a better player than Jerome at the moment so if there is any deal to be done, Cardiff must give."
