Talks between Alan Shearer and Cardiff City have failed.
Shearer has spoken and said "I can confirm that I was one of the candidates that the club spoke to about the vacant manager's position at Cardiff City. During these talks I was most impressed with the vision, ambition and determination of the owner, Dato Chan Tien Ghee, and the board. Unfortunately those talks were unsuccessful on this occasion. Cardiff City is a great club and I wish them every success next season."
Some papers have already run their back pages with headlines saying Shearer will be the new City boss (see pic) but now it was all a bit premature.
Shearer had been backed heavily causing the bookies to reduce his odds significantly before closing their books but now that has all been blown sky high.
If it's not Shearer (who has been the topic of the most fervent debate on CCMB) then who?
Are we back to Malky Mackay. The reaction from the fans suggested that Mackay would be a far better candidate than Shearer.
Madness. Wednesday could be an interesting day.
