Bothroyd is in that premliminary squad and will be hoping another goal or two at Scunthorpe might see him make the match sqaud for the France friendly.
"He's [Bothroyd] in the prelim and we're hoping that he'll be in the full squad," revealed Jones.
"Nothing would give us a prouder moment than he does get a call-up and actually gets on the pitch.
"He does deserve to be on the pedestal where he is at the moment, if he wants to stay there then he's got to keep working hard," Jones said.
"No disrespect to Wales and Scotland, but England is a bigger nation and a bigger team and all of a sudden we would have a player in it that proves the Championship isn't as bad a division as what people think.
"But we'll have to wait and see on that and just see if he continues to keep doing what he's doing, then eventually he might get that phone call or text that they do that says 'report'."
Would be great to see Jay recongnised at full international level.
