"We have made progress this year to finish where we have which is the best showing since 1971. To miss out in the last game is hard to take but its the nature of the division with so much dependant on the last game.
"The division is cruel and not helped by the parachute payment system and again no co incidence that 3 of top 4 sides had an 11 million head start on the rest of the division. For a club like us the route to sucess will be stability and careful progress.
"We have progressed over the last 10 seasons on and off the pitch. Some of the fixtures we have played over the last 3 seasons were only a dream 10 years ago, today they are reality. I have followed the City since 1971 and the finish to that season was just as cruel and in many ways mirrored this season but we must move on.
"No doubt people can point to certain decisions and incidents this season but Dave (Jones) has given us a taste of what we all want and now is a time to back him."
