"That's the only change from the usual routine," Jones told the Echo.
"The reason is we want to avoid being delayed in traffic jams on the M4 as fans make their way to London.
"We will leave Cardiff the day before the match, as we always do, and arrive at our destination early evening."
City usually take the bus or fly to matches but this new routine is in line with the 1927 squad who also headed to Wembley by rail.
"One of my tasks is to keep things as normal as possible. Players can get bored if we leave too early.
"I have been involved in finals before and there is no point going two days before and then sitting around the hotel.
"It's not possible to play golf two days before a match and we will end up bringing in a comedian for the evening or going to the cinema.
"I would rather make sure the players are in a normal routine and leave it at that. Hopefully, that will help us a lot more."
Hopefully the team won't have to endure the grief we as fans get on weekends with engineeering works taking us via Gloucester or on replacement busses.
