Forget your Silva's, your Benayoun's and your Beckford's. Even your Toure's and your Joe Cole's. The transfer event of the summer could be the loan deal that sees the Welsh skipper and one of Man City's best players last season join Cardiff City ahead of any number of clubs in the rest of Europe.

It's believed that Man City are not prepared to sell / loan him to a Premier league rival and the press are already reporting he's turned down a move to Celtic. Bellamy has fallen out with City boss Mancini and has not been chosen in Man City's 23 man squad for Europa League or their 25 man squad for the Premier League.

Bellamy has previously admitted he refused an offer to play in Germany and has said he would love to play for City one day to be close to his family who still live in South Wales. Bellamy owns a house just minutes from City's Vale of Glamorgan training ground.

Betting on Bellamy signing for Cardiff was suspended on Sunday and the networking site Twitter saw Bellamy and Cardiff City as a trending topics, something usually only reserved for popstars, reality tv stars and Justin Bieber.

Man City are believed to have given permission for him to train with Cardiff this week

Last week Bellamy said:

"I have always wanted to play for Cardiff. I've never been shy in saying that.

"My wife and kids live here, I've missed them now for the last five or six years, so that would have more of a pull to me than most.

"I will have to wait and see and see what options are possible but I certainly wouldn't rule it out."

He continued: "Would I love to get Cardiff City to the Premier League? Of course I would.

"I feel I'd have more of an impact doing that than playing 100 games for Wales. For us to move forward as a nation football-wise, we need a Premier League team."

Dave Jones commented on a possible move for Bellamy after City's fine 2 - 1 win at Derby on Saturday.

The Cardiff boss said:

"You can dream about things but miracles take a little bit longer.

"If it happens, it would be fantastic and we would all love him to be here but there are bigger fish for him."

The nearest we've seen to a comment from the club since news broke on Sunday was a statement by an unnamed spokesman via the PA:

"With the number and the names of the clubs being mentioned in connection to Craig it is flattering that we are an option, but at this stage it is pure speculation.

"Being connected to a player of this calibre shows how far we have come, to be even considered in a deal like this.

"We would love it to happen of course, but we are by no means alone in this."

Keep checking folks. We are big news.
