St Davids Day meeting.
On the screen we will have some of City's most recent games including Oldham
and the Coventry replay plus hopefully Wales v Bosnia. Also highlights from a number of other recent City games.
As well as the on-screen entertainment, there will be some singing, some good chat, great company and a nice bit of South Wales banter. We will give a brief report on what the OG has been up too and some news on forthcoming events. Don't miss it.
How to get there:
By car. Gladesville is on the North Shore. If you are coming from the north or west head for Ryde and then get onto Victoria Rd. If you are coming from the south or the Eastern Suburbs you go over the Gladesville Bridge and then head in the direction of Ryde. Good parking in Cowell St opposite tavern.
By bus. Go from George St in the city near King St. (Close to Wynyard train station) Take X18, L20, X00 or X15 bus. It's a 20 min trip. Ask to be put off at Meriton St. The Bayview Tavern is opposite Cowell St.
By train. Forget it. There are no train stations in Gladesville.
Other news
We never got a reply from David Temme, so now I've written to Sam and asked him how we can go about becoming affiliated to the club. If I get an answer I'll circulate it.
Sydney Welsh Choir are holding a St Davids Day Concert at Dee Why RSL on Sunday 2 March at 2.30pm. Tickets $10 may be booked by ringing 02 9454 4000. They are a top choir and well worth our support. This will be a great day so don't miss it.
Spike Robinson has written to me. He has attended our last two meetings but is now off on his travels again and plans to be in San Jose May 24 for the Wales v USA friendly. (Apparently it's confirmed.) He wanted to know if any Bluebirds DownUnder wanted to make the trip with him. He reckons he can get a return ticket ex-Sydney for $1845. Let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with Spike.
I'm still getting some great e-mails from all around the world from City fans who saw the pics and recognised friends and acquaintances. Mark Jones in Liverpool, the founder of Cardiff City Exiles has written to congratulate us on getting the club started. He has promised to send us programmes from all the games he attends. They should make interesting reading at gatherings.
Cost
It's free, for now, however the OG is considering some way we can raise funds, either by a raffle or just a whip around. The place has a pretty good bistro-type restaurant.
I think that's all for now. If you need to contact me please do so on 0409
491867.
Cheers
Richard (Sydney Blue)
