Cardiff need to beat Middlesbrough today, and hope Norwich fail to win at Portsmouth, to take the advantage going into the final day.
It's an exciting climax to the season and the first time in four decades that Cardiff have challenged for an automatic promotion place in the final games of the season. In 1971 the club fell away after a big defeat at Bramall Lane so hopefully the win in Sheffield this time around will contribute to a different outcome.
Skipper Craig Bellamy believes the club and the area deserves a shot at the big time.
“Our aim is to achieve automatic promotion and we will do everything possible to achieve that,' Bellamy said.
“But if we go into the play-offs we will face that challenge as the form team – and still the best team – in the Championship.
“It’s been a brilliant season. As a team we are growing. As a club we are growing.
“Now every single player is fully focused on finishing the job we started.
“This area deserves Premier League football and that would mean everything to Bluebirds supporters and the whole community.”
