Bellamy energy helps City to top spot

Bellamy scored a first half goal to give City the lead against Birmingham City but it was his non stop chasing down of every ball and his continual harrassing of the Birmingham back line that impressed me the most. Bellamy raced onto Mark Hudson's cross to rifle the ball through England keeper Jack Butland as the rain teamed down on Cardiff City Stadium.

Just minutes after Leroy Lita levelled for the visitors Bellamy was at it again causing problems and he won the corner that saw confusion in the Blues box and Mark Hudsson scored from close range.

In my opinion the Butland was at fault for failing to impose himself when the ball was loose.

The last 10 minutes saw some scary moments with Birmingham allowed too much ball but they failed to get themselves a second equaliser and the game ended with Cardiff going top of the table.

Blues two strikers got some stick. Leroy Lita (for being ex Swansea) was reminded of that time and time again and when he was replaced by Marlon King the substitute took some fearful abuse for being a thug.

Peter Whittingham produced a stunning tackle to deny Chris Burke a run on goal and Matt Connolloy impressed alongside the dependable Hudson.

There were moments where City looked vulnerable and panicky but it takes a good team to win their 5th consecutive home game and their 6th win in total this season.

Next up City are away at struggling Ipswich. The Tractor Boys are in the bottom three and you will be able to see the game live on Sky ko 5:20pm this Saturday.
