Developer and City director Paul Guy said:
"I think it's very encouraging in this difficult time that the development is still moving forward.
"It's a very high quality development and it's all part of a master plan. It shows how the new stadium has had the effect of rejuvenating that area, and the next stage."
One local councillor said of the pub:
"Marston's seems to have a reasonably well managed operation going on, and I've been told it will be the company's policy not to sell alcohol to people who don't buy food, on match days".
The Leckwith development has already seen Greggs and Subway establish themselves and the newly propsed outlets will offer visitors more choice.
