After not making the 16 man squad for Wednesday's night's match against Brighton Parkin started tweeting messages about his lack of action.
'Does anyone need a gardener. Looking for work Anything. Just looking for work. Is it bad to want to work. ?????'
Followers of Parkin responded, asking him questions and he followed up with
'Not going to apologise for been unhappy at not playing. Want to play every game.
Wow wow wow. Don't want to leave guys. Just want to play. !!!!!'
As Parkin has now learnt the world takes an interest in Twitter and his tweets made the papers and their way to Malky Mackay.
Mackay said Parkin had apologised and added: "I get why he's disappointed."
"It's part of today's society - Facebook and Twitter. I speak to the boys and it's about being responsible and respectful to the group that are here.
"Everybody's disappointed when they're not playing and I would be as well. If you're not, then I'm querying why you're not."
Mackay said Parkin told him there had been a misunderstanding.
"He's frustrated that he wasn't playing but I get why that would be the case.
"He's come to see me about that just to say 'I was tweeting a mate and it wasn't any sort of public outcry.'
"There certainly wasn't anything intentional meant by putting it out to the wider audience. He certainly didn't expect that to make a newspaper."
Parkin is not the only City player on Twitter. Mark Hudson and Anthony Gerrard are quite prolific and Nat Jarvis weighs in with a few tweets as well. Robert Earnshaw is also a big user but has been a bit quieter of late.
