Watford 3 - 2 Cardiff City. Scoreline flatters the visitors who were close to a heavy defeat with Neil Etheridge keeping the score down.
Watford ended their 6 game unbeaten run with three points against a Cardiff City side who had lost the last five away games on the spin.
The home side scored three quality goals. Gerard Deulofeu skipped through Bruno Manga and Sean Morrison to slot home the first (16 mins), Jose Holebas struck a beauty to make it 2 - 0 (52) before 19 year old Domingos Quina scored the third with another breathtaking strike in the 68th minute.
All the while it was one way traffic as the home side could have seriously scored seven or eight goals. The only thing stopping them was Neil Etheridge. The City keeper flinging himself left right and centre to keep out wave after wave of Watford attack.
But this is Cardiff City, a team that while on this losing run away from home don't give up too easily.
If Watford could score great goals Junior Hoilett can as well. His run and finish from a similar position to his goal v Wolves a few weeks ago was arguably the best of the game. This was on 80 mins. Two minutes later Bobbby Reid made it interesting (pictured).
The assistant missed Sol Bamba being in an offside position and from the melee Reid scored with his second attempt to give the game unexpected late drama.
Etheridge again kept City in the game and at the other end Ben Foster held on for dear life under pressure from Callum Paterson.
The game ended 3 - 2, Cardiff battered, beaten but walking away with heads held high.
The four point gap above the relegation places still intact at 5pm. Huddersfield lost at home and now we wait to see how Fulham and Southampton get on. If they both fail to win it won't have been anything gained for Cardiff today, but nothing will be lost either.
