Craig Bellamy marked his debut for Cardiff City with two assists and a 30 yard scorcher of a free kick to open his City account.
The Bluebirds toiled in the first half against a well organised Doncaster Rovers who, it must be said, had the better of the chances in the opening 30 mins.
Cardiff started with Bellamy wide left and Whittingham wide right with Burke on the bench. Kevin McNaughton lasted just 18 minutes before an injury saw him replaced by Lee Naylor. Adam Matthews started the game after Darcy Blake was injured in the warm up.
Half an hour gone and Chopra was taken off injured and on came Burke. The defining moment of the match.
Doncaster played their game and managed a few long range efforts after some decent possession but City opened the scoring 10 mins before half time. Bellamy's ball from the left fell kindly to Jay Bothroyd and he slotted the ball past Neil Sullivan.
City had made some inroads during the first half but really they were fortunate to be ahead. Half time arrive and it proved to be a platform for City to push on.
The second half saw Cardiff rip the visitors to pieces. The main architecht was Chris Burke. Smart play down the right saw him cross for Jay Bothroyd to head home unmarked.
Then a moment of beauty. Craig Bellamy was in possession near his own goal line. He smacked a 70 yard pass that cleared the Donny defence and Burke ran through to finish. It was game over then with City passing the ball upto 20 or 30 times with ole's from the fans. When Doncaster did manage touch they were boo'd until City got the ball back.
Bothroyd, on a hat trick, went through on goal with less than 10 mins remaining. He was scythed down but the Donny defender saw yellow not red. The ball was just left of centre, about 30 yards out and up stepped Craig Bellamy to rifle it home off the post leaving Sullivan grasping air and City fans walking on air.

Bellamy was subbed with a few mins to go. His replacement, Jason Koumas. It's like fantasy football. Belllamy did manage to pick up a yellow card for a touch of petulance but overall he was the star and his goal made him shine even brighter.
Olofinjana in central midfield was immense and Danny Drinkwater does the work of two men.
The defence were solid and Marshall, when all said and done, did what he had to do and nothing more. A couple of smart saves and a ball bouncing on the bar but he was well protected.
Two weeks ago we were hoping we'd have the embargo lifted so we could played Drinkwater and Heaton. Now we have the most potent attack in the Championship and more than that we are the favourites to go up and the rest of the division sees us that the team to beat.
To be honest, I don't see many of them actually managing to beat us. I think we have assembled the best offensive Cardiff City side I have ever seen. There is talk of new defenders coming next week. It's hard to describe how frighteningly good we are.
