Wolverhampton Wanderers may have managed to avoid playing us in the league this coming season but in Sydney they have not been so lucky!!! The Bluebirds DownUnder Football Team play their first game in Sydney on Sunday 20 July kick off 11am. Venue is Wentworth Park. And the opposition is NSWolves, fresh from celebrating their promotion to the Premiers.
Steve (Buttocks) and captain Rich (Moneybags) have not been idle over the closed season, and have made a number of exciting signings for the club, but none more so than City legend ADRIAN (Noddy) ALSTON who will be controlling things from the midfield. Other signings include Russell Lane-Smith a convert from Liverpool Supporters Club who plays senior football currently in Sydney. We have a very talented line-up of Bluebirds regulars but unfortunately a few injuries, so it looks as if JimW is in goal!!!!
NatW is currently over in Cardiff but will be returning soon with 12 City away shirts with BDU logo supplied by the Supporters Club Shop. DaveP has done a great job getting the shirts organised for us over there so thanks to him, Nat and the Club shop. We’ll be playing in blue for the Wolves game to avoid a colour clash, but future games against Notts Forest, Leeds and Aston Villa will be in the City away colours.
For those of you who watched Adrian back in the 70’s well, here’s your chance to say that you actually played in the same team as him…..it doesn’t get better than that now does it!!!! It’s not too late to get into the team. Come along to practice Thursday 10 July and/or Tuesday 15 July at Wentworth Park, 6.30pm. Or, if you’ve decided to finally hang up the boots, but you’d still like to see the City play…, well, close your eyes a bit, use your imagination, and come along to support your team on Sunday 20 July. We’ll be having a brunch and a beer in a local hostelry afterwards, so lets make it a great day out.
