Malky Mackay is away on holiday this week but his recruitment team are working on the business of securing new players foir City's crack at the Premier League.
The boss is in regular contact with head of recruitment Iain Moody.
“Things are progressing, very much so. Our recruitment department is in a very busy period right now working through things,” said Mackay.
“Me and Iain are in touch two or three times a day. He’s beavering away.
“It is a slow period in many ways, but there is a lot of background work which needs to be done.
In the press this week City have been linked with half a dozen players.
Former Swansea player Danny Graham, who is now firing blanks at Sunderland is one name linked. Another is Bristol City winger Albert Adomah.
Carlyon Cole, released by West Ham could be a target.
A new name thrown in the hat this week is former Everton defender Joseph Yobo (pictured). The Nigerian international has Premier League experience and is currently playing in Turkey.
Blackpool's Tom Ince has been linked with City before and while it looks like he could be heading the the Premier League with Liverpool he is still on City's radar.
One of the most likely tranfers that could take place is a permanent deal for Leon Barnett from Norwich. The defender played a key role as cover for Mark Hudson as Cardiff secured promotion to the Premier League.
France and Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis was mentioned as a target a couple of weeks ago but like the others it's just speculation.
Mackay will follow his usual protocol when it comes to his transfer dealings leaving the fans to guess who might be coming.
“When it comes to transfers things are not going to change. It does not change from club to club really,” added Mackay.
“Right now we just have to make sure we do our due diligence.
“We keep doing things the right way which I believe we have already.
“We need to keep speaking to the right people at the right time.
“We’ll just keep going about things the same way we have over the last few years.
“The process we have got will give us a better chance of getting players we believe will prove a success at the football club and will also prove financially viable for the club.”
