Speaking to the Echo Alexander said
"The whole team were not playing well, and while I was made the scapegoat, it could have been anyone of us. I'm going nowhere. I'm settled and I love the place. There is no reason for me to move. I'm ready to fight for my place.
"Don't get me wrong, Martyn has done a great job since he took over and we're great friends, but he will know that I'll be pushing him all the way and that will start in pre-season friendlies.
"Things change in football like the weather. You just don't know what is around the corner and I've had to be kept on my toes just in cases something happened to Martyn. To be honest, I was glad the season was over. Now at least I have something to focus on."
