Alexander doubt for Saturday. Early QPR preview.

Lennie said on GTFM last night that Neil will play if fit but he has been struggling a bit. Martyn Margetson will take over if needed.

City will still be without Scott Young for sure, there is no news yet whether the injury that kept Steve Jenkins out of the Wales game will affect his chances for Saturday's massive clash against QPR.

In case you can't remember we lined up as follows against Mansfield two weeks ago

Alexander, Jenkins, Barker, Prior, Croft, Ainsworth, Boland, Kav, Mahon, Thorne and Earnshaw. Subs Margetson, Legg, Bonner, Bowen, Gordon.

Lennie now has the option of the returning Gabbidon, Weston, Campbell and Whalley. This Saturday's game is too soon to expect immediate returns but if Jenkins is struggling then Weston may come straight back into the team.

It will be late today or even Friday before we get a better idea.

Cardiff have two huge games in the space of 4 days. With Crewe not playing until Saturday week we play both our 'games in hand' before Crewe play again.

6 points for the Bluebirds will see us re-take second spot and place the pressure back on Crewe. 4 points from 6 will put us level on points but behind on goals. Anything less and the advantage is with Crewe.

City have won the last two league games, the first time back to back victories have been achieved since November. Now with only 8 games to go it's not isolated back to back victories that are need it a run of several games earning maximum points that will be required to earn promotion.

This weekend two of the top six are not playing. Bristol City are in LDV action at the Millennium Stadium meaning their scheduled game at Crewe is postponed.

City have the chance to close the gap on Crewe to one point, and also extend the lead over QPR to 9 points and still have two games in hand. If QPR were to win then they would only be 3 points behind City and would put more pressure on the Bluebirds.

We could open up a 4 point gap on Bristol City and still have a game in hand. Hopefully Oldham will slip up at home again.

QPR will be looking avenge the 4 - 0 home dfeat by cardiff last November, a scoreline that flattered Cardiff but take nothing away from the finishing of Robert Earnshaw who secured a second half hat-trick.

Cardiff City v QPR.
