Peter Ridsdale has been defending the decision to accept bids of £5m for Aaron Ramsey. "The situation has been that bidding originally started at £1m, which was grossly under valuing him.
"Once the price had raised to £5m, which we thought fair, he was permitted to speak to that club ... which was Manchester United.
"What happened then is that other clubs have been alerted by his agent and advisors, as was always going to happen."
Ridsdale highlighted that the youngster has still only made a few starts and that whoever gats Ramsey is buying potential.
"I think a lot of people have got a bit carried away with this," said Ridsdale.
"We are talking about a youngster who is 17 years old and has started fewer than 20 games.
"He has obviously got a lot of talent, but whichever team signs him is taking a gamble on that potential progressing and being fulfilled."
