City's performace today deserved a goal that would have given the Ninian Park crowd something to cheer.
City have not scored at home for 479 minutes, that over 5 games. In fact we've only scored at home in one game from 6 played.
We had the best chance possible today when McAnuff was fouled in the box. Andy Campbell, drafted in becuase of injuries stood with the chance of redeeming several far from impressive performances but he hit the poorest penalty that Sullivan easily saved.
Campbell did manage to hit the bar in the second half but his performance was again below par. His partner, Peter Thorne also struggled.
Behind them though City were rampant. Led by Gary O'Neil City ran Leeds ragged at times. The pace of McAnuff and O'Neil caused problems and opened up chances for City. In the first half we were clearly on top but, the penalty apart, not really looking like scoring.
We upped the pace in the second half and shots and efforts rained in on the Leeds goal. The Woodwork was hit at least three times. Campbell diverted a ball onto the bar, his replacement, the impressive Cameron Jerome, headed against the post and a McAnuff drive cannoned off the frame as well.
Leeds had a few chances and could have nicked it but Ormerod put one chance wide in the second half while Willie Boland cleared off the line in the first half.
I hope to see Jerome have another chance. With our next game two weeks away Fleetwood and Lee will be back so Jerome I guess, will drop down the order. I'd keep him close to the first team squad.
Gary O'Neil worked hard and was rewarded with man of the match. Darren Williams was solid again in defence and Gabbidon had a much better game.
It' not good enough though. I keep mentioning the 12 game thing. It's not my words. Lennie said them.
"People should look at the table after 12 matches. It won't lie then. You won't be in an artificial situation after 12 matches," said Lawrence.
Well Lennie 12 league games have gone. Only two have been wins and 3 draws. That leaves 7 (seven) defeats. We have picked up 9 points from 36. We are second bottom of the table. At the current rate we are heading for the division below us and waving the CC Championship goodbye.
At the end of last season you said that there was no standing still. We had to move forward. Well we are not moving forward.
Individual results are just papering over the cracks.
After several shocking performances Andy Campbell was selected again today. He will be slaughtered for missing a penalty when in all honestly he shouldn't have been on the pitch.
We are not progressing, we are already in a relegation fight and we have a manager who's making it up as we go along.
There's a two week gap now. Then we are at home to Rotherham. The only team below us in the table. We have absolutely no hope if we can't win that one.
