His first, back in August 1998 earned City a 1 - 1 draw at Harlepool, his 200th ensured a similar scoreline this weekend at Burnley (right).
His goal scoring record stands up to all scrutiny. The only player to have scored a hat-trick in all four divisions, all major cup competitions and at international level, boasts an impressive CV (see table below of goals scored in league games - he has 35 others from cup competitions and play off matches as well).
“It’s fantastic for Earnshaw,” said City boss Malky Mackay.
“People say he’s always in the right place at the right time, well top-scorers are always doing that. They make a habit of it.
“I brought him to the club knowing he could score goals at Championship level even when he is feeding on scraps. But 200 career goals at club level is something to be very proud of.”
